Major Drivers
Self-interest and referential altruism
Contingency Management
Sensitivity to external interests brings benefits.
Effective managers "should" do this anyway.
It brings favourable PR!
(Instrumental, what's in it for me ethics).
Major drivers are
- environmental scanning and boundary management
- manage contingencies - be prepared and competitive
- influence the reactions of those in the environment
by becoming involved and offering information - take
the lead. Be philanthropic
- consider the pay-off (costs and benefits)
- act first and lobby to avoid state imposed regulation.
