Operations: Proactive Role
![]()
PROACTIVITY - a tendency to purposeful working and positive action to events
To be proactive operations managers must give a clear lead to the organisation and:
- identify and nuture what they are best at doing and tackle what they are not. Are operational competences in volume, quality, low cost, or customer responsiveness etc sufficiently mobilised?
- compare their strategies with what others are doing in relation to market demands. Benchmarking against the performance of competitors enables weaknesses and gaps to be identified and prioritised for action when resources (medium- and long-term development funds) are available.
